Law 3500/2006 is one of Greece’s most important legal tools for preventing and addressing domestic violence, offering protection to all victims, regardless of gender, identity, or sexual orientation.
What the law provides:
- Recognition of all forms of violence (physical, psychological, emotional).
- Special protection for minors, including LGBTQ+ youth.
- Access to protection orders, legal assistance, and shelter services.
- Alignment with international conventions such as the Istanbul Convention.
For LGBTQ+ individuals:
Although the law does not explicitly reference their specific challenges, it fully protects LGBTQ+ persons, ensuring meaningful legal safeguards.
This initiative was highlighted as a good practice in the Greek National Report of the Proud Ambassadors, in which CUBE participates, actively contributing to the promotion of equality, social cohesion, and the mental well-being of young people.
